Abstract
Backfitting nuclear power plants serves to achieve continous improveme nts in safety and economics. ABB offers comprehensive services to this end, from basic conceptual studies to turnkey plants. On the basis of extensive experience in planning, building, and commissioning a total of 37 nuclear power plants worldwide, ABB Combustion Engineering in t he United States, ABB Atom in Sweden, ABB Kraftwerke in Switzerland, a nd ABB Reaktor in Germany execute sophisticated buckfitting projects. A number of these projects are cited in the article as examples of pro jects recently completed by the European ABB companies.
