Abstract
The Judy steel piled jacket structure has been lift installed over a p re-drilled template, located in Block 30/7A in the UK sector of the No rth Sea. The steel piled structure, weighing approximately 7800 t, is located in 75 m of water, and supports an operating topsides load of a round 19 000 t. This structure is considered to be the latest in a lon g development of steel piled jacket designs for the North Sea. This pa per describes the design and engineering of the Judy steel piled jacke t structure for all phases of construction, transportation, installati on and in-place operation. Novel features of the design are explained, together with recommendations that should be incorporated in any futu re designs.
