In the experimental study the parameters of nonlinear stationary waves
in the flow with velocity gradient changing along the flow from 0.01
to 0.3 s(-1) for Froude numbers from 0.4 to 1.3 were determined. Insta
bility of waves with high steepness was found. The waves with large st
eepness arise in the region of high dispersion, stationary three-dimen
sional plane shorter waves take place in the region with low dispersio
n. Solitons generation at critical Froude numbers in the flow with vel
ocity gradient and solitons generation by steep waves at subcritical F
roude numbers were found.
