The influence of the electrochemical treatment of the electrode, the s
upporting electrolyte concentration and the applied potential, on the
formation of current steps as well as on the growth patterns was studi
ed for silver electrodeposition on carbon microelectrodes. The results
are compared with those obtained previously on platinum. The most int
eresting result is the ''two-dimensional'' dense branching structure w
ith radial symmetry which was obtained for the first time in silver el
ectrodeposits in a conventional cell.
