We report on the first production and identification of two neutron-ri
ch nuclei Ne-31 and Mg-37. They were produced in the projectile fragme
ntation of an 80A MeV Ti-50 beam on a Ta-181 target, and were efficien
tly analyzed and identified through the fragment separator RIPS at RIK
EN, by measuring the magnetic rigidity, time of flight, energy loss, a
nd total kinetic energy. The particle stability of the new isotopes is
discussed in comparison with various mass predictions.
