S. Naftulin, QUANTUM REPARAMETRIZATIONS IN THE 2-DIMENSIONAL GRAVITY - A LOOK FROM(2+EPSILON) DIMENSIONS, Nuovo cimento della Societa italiana di fisica. B, Relativity, classical and statistical physics, 111(4), 1996, pp. 471-481
We discuss the structure of one-loop counterterms for the two-dimensio
nal R(2) gravity and for the dilaton gravity in the covariant quantiza
tion scheme, and study the effect of those quantum reparametrizations
which map the conformal-gauge picture to the harmonic-gauge one. The c
orresponding structures are shown to be equivalent to the introduction
of (2 + epsilon)-dimensional terms into the initially two-dimensional
theory. Such terms may be important in view of Weinberg's approach ba
sed upon the epsilon-expansion and the renormalization group technique
s: in particular, they drive the theory towards a non-trivial fixed RG
-point beyond two space-time dimensions.
