C. Bhattacharya et al., INTERMEDIATE-MASS FRAGMENTS EMISSION IN THE REACTION 96 MEV F-19 ON C-12, Physical review. C. Nuclear physics, 54(6), 1996, pp. 3099-3108
The energy distributions of the complex fragments (3 less than or equa
l to Z less than or equal to 11) emitted in the reaction F-19(96 MeV)
+ C-12 have been measured in the angular range 10 degrees less than or
equal to theta(lab)60 degrees. The lighter fragments (3 less than or
equal to Z less than or equal to 6) have been found to be emitted pred
ominantly due to the asymmetric fissionlike decay of the compound nucl
eus, whereas the heavier fragments (Z greater than or equal to 10) hav
e been identified as evaporation residues. The shapes of the fragment
energy distributions, as well as the total elemental yields for the li
ghter fragments (3 less than or equal to Z less than or equal to 6) ha
ve been explained fairly well by the asymmetric binary fission model.
The binary fragment yields from the reaction F-19(96 MeV) + C-12 have
been compared with those obtained in alpha(60 MeV) + Al-27 and Li-7(47
MeV) + Mg-24 reactions, all producing the same composite P-31 at Same
excitation energy. No significant entrance channel asymmetry dependen
ce has been observed.
