We generate meson exchange currents mechanisms for the (gamma,pi(+)) r
eaction in nuclei starting from the gamma N-->7 pi pi N amplitude on o
ne nucleon and allowing one of the pions to be produced off shell and
be absorbed by a second nucleon. Detailed calculations are presented f
or the gamma He-3-->pi(+3)H reaction, where we show that the cross sec
tion at large momentum transfers is dominated by these mechanisms, hel
ping improve the agreement with experimental data. It is also shown th
at the meson exchange currents produce important effects in the photon
asymmetry in the Delta-resonance region.
