Abstract
An approach for the delineation of the compound nucleus excitation ene rgy, from the photofission cross section at intermediate energies, is worked out. An application for W-182, Au, and Ta is presented. The pot ential of this formalism, for the study of pion properties inside the nuclear medium, is discussed.
