The phonon-drag voltage induced by acoustic phonons has been studied f
or the first lime in 2D hole gas (2DHG) systems, formed in GaAs/AlGaAs
heterostructures. The drag voltage has been measured for different ch
arge densities as a function of the phonon source position. Numerical
simulations have been performed on the basis of coupled kinetic equati
ons for the phonons and holes. Direct comparisons with experimental re
sults have provided useful information regarding hole-phonon interacti
ons and the inherent properties of the 2DHG systems.
