The heterogeneous reaction of elemental selenium with the monomeric co mplex [Cd(C=CPh)(2)(tmen)] (2:1 equivalents) produced the unusual loos ely linked dimer [{Cd(SeC=CPh)(2)(tmen)}(2)].
