Two insolates of Fusarium udum, ICRISAT and Local, were tested for pat
hogenicity either singly or in combination with the nematode, Hiterode
ra cajani, on pigeonpea plant biomass, wilt incidence and H. cajani mu
ltiplication. ICRISAT isolate of F. udum was found more pathogenic and
caused higher wilt incidence than the local isolate. Wilt incidence a
nd reduction in plant growth was also increased in combined inoculatio
n of F. udum and H. cajani. Further, the nematode multiplication was a
dversely affected in combined inoculation of H. cajani with both the i
solates of F. udum. The histopathological studies revealed that the ma
in site of entry of F. udum, in nematode and fungus interaction, is th
rough the injury created by protruding females of H. cajani.
