J. Lundberg et al., A PRELIMINARY CLADISTIC-ANALYSIS OF NORTH-ATLANTIC OENOPOTA-MOERCH, 1852 AND PROPEBELA-IREDALE, 1918 (GASTROPODA, CONOIDEA), Journal of molluscan studies, 62, 1996, pp. 289-298
The phylogeny of 23 species of the conoidean gastropods Oenopota and P
ropebela from the North Atlantic is estimated in a parsimony analysis
based on 26 morphological characters. Mangelia attenuata (Montagu, 180
3) is used as outgroup. The results indicate that most Propebela speci
es form a monophyletic group within the Oenopota/Propebela complex, wh
ereas Oenopota constitutes a paraphyletic assembly. The genus Curtitom
a Bartsch, 1941 is probably non-monophyletic.
