Abstract
Experiments were carried out to study denitrogenation of pure iron and some binary melts. The effect of alloying elements (carbon, chromium) , tramp elements (silicon, manganese), and nitride forming elements (t itanium, vanadium, aluminium) on nitrogen solubility, surface tension, melt viscosity, nitrogen diffusion, and reaction rate constants was i nvestigated.
