Abstract
Fine-needle aspirates from a sclerosing mucoepidermoid thyroid carcino ma with eosinophilia showed peculiar but nonspecific features. The ove rall picture seems more important than individual elements in recogniz ing this rare entity cytologically, since the predominant type of mali gnant cells has a deceptively bland appearance. The differential diagn oses include other primary thyroid malignancies, as well as metastatic growth and Hashimoto's thyroiditis. (C) 1996 Wiley-Liss, Inc.
