Abstract
A long-range potential of B1 ((3) Sigma(+)) state of the mercury-argon molecules was derived using a LeRoy-Bernstein procedure. The procedur e was applied to B1 ((3) Sigma(+))<--X0((1) Sigma(+)) excitation spect rum that was recorded previously. A dissociation energy, an effective vibrational index at the dissociation limit, and an asymptotic behavio r of the B1((3) Sigma(+) state potential energy curve were determined. The result was compared with others available in the Literature showi ng versatility of the method. (C) 1996 American Institute of Physics.
