Mannich-type reaction of 5-amino-1,2,4-triazole 1, containing guanidin
e substructure, with the arylphosphonyl dichloride and aromatic aldehy
de using cation exchange resin (D72, Amberlyst-15) to afford ospha-4,5
,6-trihydroimidazolo[2,3-e]1,2,4-triazole 4 is described. The microana
lytical data, IR H-1 NMR, P-31 NMR and mass spectra of ospha-4,5,6-tri
hydroimidazolo[2,3-e]1,2,4-triazole 4 are reported. The mechanism of t
he reaction is discussed.
