The fluorescence spectrum of Na-2 induced by the blue 4545.05 Angstrom
line of an argon ion laser has been observed and analysed for the fir
st time. Four fluorescence series excited through the transitions: v'
= 20, J' = 51 <-- v '' = 2, J '' = 50; v' = 27, J' = 71 <-- v '' = 4,
J '' = 71; v' = 18, J' = 48 <-- v '' = 1, J '' = 47 and v' = 17, J' =
58 <-- v '' = 0, J '' = 57 were assigned in the (BIIu)-I-1 --> X(1) Si
gma(g)(+) band system. The calculated radiative transition probabiliti
es for the observed fluorescence series are in good agreement with mea
