Abstract
End users require that fieldbus devices from multiple suppliers intero perate on a single fieldbus without custom programming or special inte rfaces. To meet this requirement fieldbus devices must be interoperabl e at the physical interface to the fieldbus, within the communications protocol, and at the user application within the device.
