The exact wave function for a one-dimensional chain of electrons coupl
ed with squeezed phonons is obtained. The ground state energy and the
gap in the electron spectrum are calculated. It is shown that there ex
ists an optimal phonon number n(ph)not equal 0 for the ground state of
the system. The results are generalized for a system of correlated el
