Abstract
The contact angles of organic liquids on poly(butyl acrylate) (PBA)/po
ly(vinylidene fluoride-co-hexafluoro acetone) (P(VDF-HFA)) blends were
measured. The contact angle, theta, of organic liquids on PBA/P(VDF-H
FA) blends decreased exponentially with contact time t,i.e. log theta=
Kt+C, where K is the proportionality constant and C is the intercept a
t t=0. The K values were influenced by surface tension of organic liqu
ids, gamma(L), and blend ratio. Especially, K decreased with increasin
g P(VDF-HFA) content when hydrogen bonding (H) liquids were applied. W
e concluded that the time dependence of theta is related to the molecu
lar motion in polymers because the glass transition temperature, T-g,
of the blends increases with increasing P(VDF-HFA) content.
