The elastic modulus of polystyrene/polyepichlorohydrin, PS/PECH, blend
s was studied in the whole composition range. It was found that elasti
c modulus varied with the volume fraction of PS in the blends and got
a divergence at a critical volume fraction of PS. Percolation concept
was applied to treat the experimental results. Percolation threshold d
efined as critical volume fraction of PS was found to be about 0.40 an
d percolation exponent was about 2.0+/-0.1, which was approximately in
agreement with de Gennes' scalar elastic percolation theory and Wu's
experimental results.
