Abstract
The gene (vvp) encoding a thermolabile protease of Vibrio vulnificus w as cloned and sequenced. The transcription start point was also determ ined by primer extension. The product of this gene is very likely the secretory neutral metalloprotease that has been purified and character ized previously.
