A highly potent repellent, sideroxylonal A, was isolated from the benz
ene extract of the leaves of Eucalyptus grandis. An attaching attracta
nt identified as 16,18-tritriacontandione was isolated from the leaf w
ax of E. globulus. Grandinol and 16,18-tritriacontandione analogues we
re tested for attaching repellent and attractant activity in order to
establish structure activity relationships.
