A. Friedl et al., REMOVAL OF CARBONDISULPHIDE AND HYDROGENS ULPHIDE FROM WASTE-GAS STREAMS USING MEMBRANES, Gefahrstoffe, Reinhaltung der Luft, 56(9), 1996, pp. 333-336
In the rayon fiber industry large waste gas streams are produced conta
ining carbon disulphide (CS2) and hydrogen sulphid (H2S). Due to the l
ow gas concentration the removal and reuse of CS2 and H2S by condensat
ion is economically not feasible. This work deals with fundamental per
meation experiments for the removal and concentration of CS2 and H2S f
rom waste gas streams. Experiments at different temperatures and perme
ate pressures with the untreated waste gas stream of a rayon fiber pro
duction unit using a PDMS-capillary module were performed. The experim
ents show that already with one membrane unit both components could be
enriched significantly. At low loads at the membrane unit the faster
permeating CS2 could be removed almost completely.
