After the reunification of the two German states it had been necessary
to consider pollutant measurements carried out in the ancient GDR for
the assessment of suspected cases of occupational diseases. Since mea
suring results of the GDR and the ancient Federal Republic of Germany
are not always alike, a project was initiated which is aimed to invest
igate whether or not exposure measurements for gases, vapours and meta
l fumes undertaken in the GDR would have yielded the same results when
conducted by using measuring methods of the ancient Federal Republic
of Germany. In the negative, conversion factors would have to be appli
ed.
