Abstract
Stationary scattering of normal waves from a membrane set across Stati onary scattering of normal waves from a membrane set across a plane ac oustical waveguide with absolutely stiff walls is considered. An analy tical solution is obtained under the condition that one edge of the me mbrane is free and the other carries a mass, In this problem, scatteri ng shows a resonance behavior. In the limiting situation when the mass tends to zero and both edges of the membrane become free, the resonan ce frequencies become eigenvalues for the emerging eigenfunctions. Exa ct analytical solutions are worked out to construct plots of scatterin g of normal waves as functions of excitation frequencies for various p roblem parameters.
