Vi. Anikeev et al., EXERGETIC ANALYSIS OF BIOMASS GASIFICATION FOR COPRODUCTION OF METHANOL AND ENERGY, Theoretical foundations of chemical engineering, 30(5), 1996, pp. 461-468
The paper discusses chemical-engineering schemes whereby biomass is co
nverted to both methanol and energy. Mathematical models are derived f
or the schemes, and their efficiency is subjected to an exergetic anal
ysis. The results are presented as isolines of surfaces representing s
pecific yield of methanol, exergetic efficiency, and reduced turbine w
ork. Maxima are located for the objective functions in the range of pr
ocess variables of interest. The problem of global optimization of che
mical-engineering schemes is stated.
