Vv. Kornyushin et al., COMPOSITION OF THE GENUS DREPANIDOTAENIA RAILLIET, 1892 AND ITS PLACEIN THE SYSTEM OF HYMENOLEPIDID CESTODES, Helminthologia, 33(3), 1996, pp. 153-155
Composition of the cestode genus Drepanidotaenia Railliet, 1892 and th
e synonymy of all species formerly included in the genus, is considere
d. The narrow interpretation of generic diagnosis of Drepanidotaenia,
proposed by S p a s s k y, S p a s s k a y a 1954, is supported. An am
ended generic diagnosis of Drepanidotaenia is proposed. Taxonomic anal
ysis has shown that the genus Drepanidotaenia s. stricto includes only
two valid species (D. lanceolata Bloch, 1782 and D. czaplinskii Korny
ushin et Tkach, 1995) instead of the 13 species listed by Schmidt (198
6). The authors underline morphological similarities of the genera Dre
panidotaenia and Parabisaccanthes that suggest their close taxonomic r
elationships.
