Natural supports for workers with disabilities involves using coworker
s, supervisors, and other supports intrinsic to the job setting to fac
ilitate job skill acquisition, maintenance, and integration. The purpo
se of this article is to review the empirical literature (case studies
and empirical research) related to natural supports in the workplace
for increasing integration and offer guidelines for implementation. Co
nclusions are offered regarding the limitations of current research, t
he needs for future research, and the changing roles of supported empl
oyment services.
