Abstract
This questionnaire study of 250 university students examined the relat ionship between perceptions of parent-child communication (as measured by the Revised Family Communication Patterns instrument) and family r itualization (as measured by the Family Ritual Questionnaire), for bot h Asian-American and Euro-American samples. Family commitment to ritua lizing correlated positively with conversation-orientation for both sa mples and correlated positively with conformity-orientation for the Eu ro-American sample. In addition, routinization in the enactment of fam ily rituals correlated positively with conformity-orientation for the Euro-American sample.
