H. Ambuhl, HEURISTIC RATING-SCALES - DESCRIPTION AND APPLICATION IN 2 SHORT-TERMTHERAPIES, Zeitschrift fur klinische Psychologie, Psychiatrie und Psychotherapie, 44(4), 1996, pp. 391-414
The Heuristic-Raring-Scales appeared to be useful instruments for the
description of therapeutic goals and the identification of process cha
racteristics determining the outcome of brief psycho-therapies. It cou
ld be shown that the scales can be used economically and that rater ag
reement soon reaches satisfactory levels. To demonstrate the potential
use of the scales, their application in two different short term trea
tments are described which are presently analyzed in a multicenter stu
dy of ''single case oriented process research'' using a variety of dif
ferent methods. The example demonstrates that the Heuristic-Rating-Sca
les are useful to discriminate both different theoretical foundations
of treatments as well as the interplay between therapists' and patient
s' activities.
