DEVELOPMENT OF LSI LR-37646 FOR MINI DISC SYSTEM

We developed the fourth generation MD system LSI LR37646 which is most suitable for MD record and playback system in July, 1996. This LSI ha s encoder/decoder function, servo function, ATRAC (Adaptive Transform Acoustic Coding) function and sampling-rate-converter. As a result, it makes possible to realize most of digital signal processing part in a n LSI. And this LSI has some other features: the function for dubbing from CD to MD at double the speed, and the function to record/play mor e higher quality sound by the original compression algorithm. By incor porating new various development methods in order to improve productiv ity, we could greatly reduce the development term. This paper describe s the functions and features of this LSI and methods for developing it .
