Ak. Holmes et Re. Challis, ACOUSTIC ABSORPTION DUE TO PROTON-TRANSFER IN SOLUTIONS OF PROTEINS, PEPTIDES AND AMINO-ACIDS AT NEUTRAL PH, The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 100(3), 1996, pp. 1865-1877
Measurements of ultrasonic absorption in the frequency range 2 to 60 M
Hz have been made on solutions of the amino acid histidine, dipeptides
glycyl tyrosine and histidyl tyrosine, and proteins lysozyme and bovi
ne serum albumin. Measurements were carried out at 37 degrees C and co
vered the pH range 6.8 to 7.7. Mechanisms for the observed excess acou
stic absorption involving bimolecular and intramolecular proton transf
er are considered. (C) 1996 Acoustical Society of America.
