Adsorption of polynuclear palladium(II) hydroxocomplexes (PHC) by carb
on materials (CM) was studied. It was found that PHC are adsorbed from
aqueous solutions without a change in their chemical composition and
are composed of clusters (<10 Angstrom) with metal-metal distances typ
ical of the PdO chain structure. Three-dimensional ordered particles w
ith the PdO structure were formed upon adsorption of PHC on carbon mat
erials al room temperature or after the PHC suspension was dried in ai
r at 400 degrees C (the size of the particles was 15 and 25 Angstrom,
respectively). Calculation of tile electron-microscopic images of the
adsorbed PHC with atomic resolution based on crystal structure modelin
g showed that PdO particles containing similar to 100 palladium atoms
is tile final product after drying of tile adsorbed PHC.
