Abstract
The quantity of sorbed and desorbed phosphate ions is determined by th e ash content of the peat and its sorption activity. Sorption and deso rption isotherms in low-bog peat soils are described by the Freundlich equation. High-ash peat soils containing iron exhibit higher phosphat e-sorption activity and less desorption of phosphate ions than pear so ils with a normal ash content.
