The psychometric properties of the translated NEO Five-Factor Inventor
y (NEO-FFI) designed to measure the five personality dimensions were e
xamined in a sample of 945 Czech subjects. The NEO-FFI comprises 12 it
ems for each of the five personality domains Neuroticism, Extraversion
, Openness, Agreeableness, and Conscientiousness. The internal consist
encies of the five scales ranged from 0.60 to 0.84. Factor analysis of
the NEO-FFI items supported the scoring key of the inventory, althoug
h some items supposedly measuring the factors Openness to experience a
nd Agreeableness should be improved by revision. The authors discuss t
he psychometric characteristics of the NEO-FFI in Non-American sample
and findings concerning the generalizibility of the instrument across
German, Canadian, and Polish samples. The results demonstrate psychome
tric adequacy of the NEO-FFI in Czech language.
