The azadiferrathia tetrahedrane, Fe-2(CO)(6)(mu-SNH) (1), was deproton
ated to give the anion [Fe-2(CO)(6)(mu-SN)](-) (2) which reacts with h
alides of phosphorus, arsenic, silicon, germanium, tin and boron by fo
rmation of element-nitrogen bonds. The new compounds were characterize
d by their IR, NMR (H-1, B-11, C-13, N-15, Si-29, P-31 Sn-119) and mas
s spectra. The molecular structure, of [Fe-2(CO)(6)(mu-SN-SiMe(2)CH(2-
))](2) (11) was determined by X-ray structure analysis (space group <P
(1)over bar>; triclinic; a = 799.8(2), b = 958.5(2), c = 1035.7(2) pm,
alpha = 86.30(2)degrees, beta = 81.27(2)degrees, gamma = 69.90(2)degr
ees).
