Abstract
The preparation and crystal structure of Rb6Cl4O (hexagonal, a = 12,62 1(4), c = 15,847(4) Angstrom) are reported. The compound crystallizes in the anti-K4CdCl6 type of structure, which is closely related to the perovskites. Rb6Cl4O is the first 4:1 compound in pseudo-binary syste ms MX/M(2)O (M = alkali metal; X = halide, Au-, CN-, NO2-).
