A 32-year-old white woman was typing when she suddenly experienced a s
harp, stabbing, anterior chest pain and shortness of breath. When she
breathed in, the pain became worse and spread across her upper back, T
wo hours after the attack subsided, she went to the emergency departme
nt of an outpatient clinic. She had no skin or joint symptoms, and no
fever, cough, hemoptysis, or vomiting.
