Abstract
Nineteen nesting colonies of Great Blue Herons (Ardea herodias) were s urveyed in northeast Ohio and western Pennsylvania. Fledging success w as correlated with the type of barrier forming a buffer zone around ea ch site, and the types of human disturbances experienced. Fledging suc cess was not related to colony size or to width of the buffer zone.
