The applied field dependence of magnetic flux trapped by the pulsed fi
eld magnetization (PFM) method has been investigated for a small melt-
processed Y-Ba-Cu-O bulk sample with a symmetric distribution of the t
rapped flux. It was revealed that the magnetic flux trapped in the sam
ple decreases when the applied field exceeds a critical value, regardl
ess of the existence of weak links, and that the reduction is marked i
n the center of the sample. Furthermore, the reduction was found to st
rongly depend not only on the PFM condition responsible for the heat g
eneration but also on the cooling condition to dissipate the heat gene
rated in the sample.
