The radiative dipole transitions between doubly excited states of mult
icharged ions with large principal quantum numbers of both electrons (
n(1) and n(2)) are studied. On the basis of the analytical wavefunctio
ns, being exact in the large n limit, the propensity rules for the rad
iative rates of intrashell and intershell doubly excited states are fo
und. It is shown that for all states near the lower edge of the (n(1),
n(2)) manifold the propensity rules obtained are sufficient to isolat
e the few dominant decay channels. The main features of partial and to
tal radiative decay rates of intra- and intershell states are consider
ed.
