Ma. Horn, BOUNDARY CONTROL AND STABILIZATION OF KIRCHHOFF AND VON KARMAN PLATES, Zeitschrift fur angewandte Mathematik und Mechanik, 76, 1996, pp. 437-440
Mathematical techniques which have been developed during the study of
control problems are not only interesting because of their application
s, but they often can be linked to other mathematically fascinating pr
operties of the equations. Our focus will be on the questions of bound
ary control and stabilization. We will give an overview of the various
types of problems which we have considered, such as linear and nonlin
ear plate equations, and the techniques and properties involved in pro
ving controllability, including microlocal analysis, compactness/uniqu
eness arguments and local smoothing properties.
