The present paper deals with abstract second order differential equati
ons in both elliptic and hyperbolic cases. Our aim is to get some expl
icit representations and approximations of the solutions which are sui
table for algorithmic processing. Error estimates are given which show
that the accuracy of the approximate solution automatically depends o
n the regularity of the initial data.
