Abstract
3-Vinyl- and 3-isopropenyl-azetidin-2-ones can be transformed into the corresponding 3-(2-hydroxyethylidene)azetidin-2-one and 3-[1-(hydroxy methyl)ethylidene]azetidin-2-ones which are intermediates for the synt hesis of asparenomycin-type carbapenem antibiotics.
