Se. Bialkowski, SUB-SHOT-NOISE LIGHT-SOURCES - A QUIET REVOLUTION IN LIGHT CONTROL, Critical reviews in analytical chemistry, 26(2-3), 1996, pp. 101-147
A review of current research trends in the control and measurement of
the statistical properties of light is given. This review is limited t
o squeezing, sub-Poisson light, and methods for measuring properties o
f the resulting stabilized light. Basic descriptions of the statistica
l properties of light, electronic noise, and behavior are given. The r
esults are used to illustrate how the unique properties of these optic
al sources and detection techniques may be used to improve the precisi
on of the analytical measurement.
