Abstract
Intrashell transitions in Rydberg atom induced by distant collision wi th charged particle are considered as a quantum close coupling problem with n(2) channels included. The closed-form exact solution for the i nitial ns slate of H atom is obtained based on efficient use of the Fo ck's O(4) symmetry group. The results are applicable to the Rydberg at om with non-Coulomb core within the quasihydrogenic approximation. It agrees well with our previous classical trajectory (pseudo) Monte Carl o results. By this the binning procedure conventionally used in the Mo nte Carlo calculations is justified.
