Hs. Kim et Bc. Shin, DESIGN OF 2 MULTICHANNEL DQDB PROTOCOLS FOR SINGLE-HOP WDM NETWORKS, IEICE transactions on communications, E79B(12), 1996, pp. 1865-1872
Two simple and high performance multichannel distributed queue dual bu
s (MDQDB) protocols based on the wavelength division multiplexing (WDM
) network technology are proposed, and the network architecture and op
erations are presented. To be suited for a high speed network, they in
herit the advantages of the DQDB protocol such as node simplicity, net
work flexibility and distributed operations of individual nodes. The n
etwork capacity can also be greatly increased with marginal increase o
f node complexity. Simulation has been done to estimate the performanc
es such as throughput and average access delays for individual nodes.
The influence of the bandwidth balancing mechanism on the two protocol
s is considered at medium, high, and overload conditions. We also inve
stigate the fairness characteristics in asymptotic conditions for vari
ous initial slates.
