We are investigating kinematical and photometric properties of members
of isolated pairs of galaxies in order to derive their origin and sec
ular evolution. In this paper Ne present kinematical data(dagger), sys
temic Velocities and central velocity dispersions, of a sample compose
d of 41 galaxies members of 24 Karachentsev's (1972) pairs. Data have
been obtained using absorption lines in the region of Mgb, the measure
s then refer to the kinematics of the stellar component. The data qual
ity and the comparison with the available literature are discussed. A
marginal zero point difference of -15 km s(-1) with RC3 data, compatib
le with our typical formal errors, is found In a large fraction of obj
ects the stellar systemic velocity differs significantly from that mea
sured for the HI gaseous component. Computed velocity dispersion are i
n good agreement with those reported in Davies et al. (1987). The Fabe
r-Jackson (M(B), sigma(0)) relation of ellipticals in pairs is compare
d with the same relation for ellipticals in the Virgo core and for a s
et of nearby held ellipticals. Field and binary ellipticals appear mor
e scattered around the (M(B), sigma(0)) relation than do ellipticals i
n the Virgo cluster core, although to this effect may contribute the d
istance uncertainty.
